New Feeding Schedule

Up to this point we've been on a very easy, doable schedule. I would say since about 7-8 months old, til now we've been doing this. 8am wake up, bottle fed formula, play 10am fruit puree 10am-12pm nap 12pm bottle, play 2pm yogurt 2pm-4pm nap 4pm bottle, play 6:30pm dinner puree, mixed veggie/meats play 8pm bottle and bed We had some issues with getting the formula we needed thru WIC because they are on a special formula, and WIC apparently doesn't cover it after 1 year, even though the Dr. gave the orders to...I guess if it was plain and not high calorie it would've been fine. But anyway, I couldn't get things taken care of the day this all happened and our WIC location is only open on Thursdays...so we asked the Pediatrician if it would be ok to try Whole Milk, and she said sure! (We were planning to switch them over in a month anyway.) With the change from formula to milk, comes less fluids, the Dr. doesn't want them to take more than 20oz of milk, and they were taking up to 24oz of formula. Doesn't seem like a big difference, but when that's their main source of nutrients, it is! Also we have to really push table food. I've been really lenient, maybe too much so, and have really slacked in this area. They take purees just fine. In fact, that's all Lyla will take. She is the toughest. Owen will take some table foods, but he's picky about which ones. Noah will eat anything and everything you give him! He's even picking up pieces on his own and feeding himself, as well as drinking his bottle on his own. The other two still need to be bottle fed. Sippy cups are another issue. We're trying different ones, and hopefully soon they'll start to figure ONE of them out!!! Sunday 8/19 was our first day of the New schedule. 8am wake up eat breakfast, table food for Noah/Owen, puree for Lyla bottle right after 4oz of milk play, snack around 9:30-10 10-12p nap 12:30 lunch (food) followed by 4oz bottle of milk play, snack around 1:30-2 2-4/4:30p nap 4:30 bottle 4oz milk 6:30 dinner 8p bottle (up to)7oz milk BED So far, so good. Noah's a rock star and eating everything. We've tried eggs, toast & fruit for breakfast. Owen will no eat the eggs. For lunch we've continued doing yogurt (the LOVE this)and add cheese, or fruit, & peanut butter on wheat. For dinner we've done pasta, grilled cheese, cooked carrots, & potatoes. Snacks are Cheerio's, puffs, yogurt drops, graham crackers, cheese & fruit. Lyla only eats purees and yogurt, although I always offer her the other stuff. What she does is either spit it out right away, or hold it in her mouth for several minutes, and then eventually it finds it's way out of her mouth. I've got a call into Early Intervention, who the Pediatrician recommended I call to see if they can help with feeding issues. I think Lyla will qualify, at least I hope so...she won't eat ANYTHING!

Well it's been "almost" a year...

...since I last posted! Whoops! I guess having triplets and finding time to blog, which I wasn't very good at doing daily, IS nearly impossible! Well, Thanksgiving 2011 was my last post. YIKES. Christmas was fun! We rang in the New Year very quietly, as all our littles were sleeping! July we celebrated the triplets' first birthday! Owen, Lyla and Noah had a huge birthday bash, decorated with owls, and attended by our closest family and friends! I can't believe a year has gone by, yet feel like it's been an eternity! Here's the trio in their birthday shirts!
The trio is crawling like mad, we had them "gated" in a small area up until a few weeks ago. The boys are starting to try out walking, and it just wasn't enough space with all the millions of toys they have! So we took down the gate, blocked off the TV and the kitchen and they have the run of the WHOLE living/dining room.
BEFORE...(spent a lot of time in there, and they eventually, when I say "they" I really mean NOAH, figured out how to get out. So we had to hold the gate closed next to the couch with a chair...made it difficult for our parents, and ourselves carrying babies, to get in and out!)
AFTER...(you can't see the dining room as I'm standing in it, it's all connected, one BIG room...they LOVE roaming free! I, of course, was terrified about them getting into things, but we baby-proofed quite well!) They're growing so big! Emmalee will be three this weekend! We're having small family parties...one for each side. It will be nice and quiet! She's starting to give us a bit of trouble, and I really have a hard time dealing with the attitude and balancing everything. Hopefully this stage blows over FAST!
